Professor Scott Kelso introduced Dr. Bennet Omalu, the discoverer of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) in NFL football players–and the focus of the movie “Concussion”–at a recent event held by FAU’s incredible Lifelong Learning Society in Jupiter.

A lively Q & A session moderated by Prof. Kelso followed Dr. Omalu’s lecture.

Mr. Joe Namath, who takes a keen interest in these matters (Joe Namath Neurological Research Center) was also in attendance, as was Provost Perry (seen with Drs Omalu and Kelso below). During the discussion, Dr. Kelso described briefly the work done using Functional MRI and Diffusion Tensor Imaging with FAU Research Professor, Dr. Fred Steinberg of University MRI and our own Dr. Armin Fuchs on concussion and recovery from mild traumatic brain injury in FAU football players.
